We had a little drama in the morning trying to make sure we were on the right freeway (sometimes our GPS likes to send us on the windy roads and we try to avoid those). But we found our way and even ended up with extra time to stop for donuts (Danny's favorite part of any trip is stopping for treats). We even made it early enough to book Tour #2 (the bedrooms and upstairs of Casa Grande)!
Guest bedrooms in Casa Grande (the main house)
It was the most beautiful day. I can't believe we had such good weather in January. The views were amazing!!! The indoor pool was where The Great Gatsby was filmed.
I want the outdoor pool! Maybe someday. HA!
We took Tour #1 last which included the main floor of the main house (family room, living room, movie room, etc) and a guest house. The tour guide was so mean and yelled at me. :(
The sunset that night was amazing! That night we really wanted to eat at Sow's Ear but it was booked solid so we settled for Linn's which ended up being really good. Their pie was amazing!
We stayed at a cute little motel (thanks for the recommendation, Katie!) that offered free bikes for guests. In the morning we decided to bike into town for breakfast. We need to get out more because biking that short distance really wore us out! On our way home we stopped at the Gilroy Outlets (Danny's suggestion). It was such a fun trip. I'm so glad we went!!For more information about Hearst Castle watch this video.
