A balcony garden

Danny loves fresh veggies and has been wanting to do a garden for a couple of years. When our ward sent out a memo that they wanted everyone in the ward to have a garden we didn't have an excuse anymore. Plus our balcony is huge and we have been wanting to make it cute.

Orchard Supply had a sale Saturday on 4 inch veggie plants (buy one get one free) so we got lots of good stuff (tomatoes, squash, watermelon, cantaloupe, peppers, basil, chives, and rosemary)! I just hope we can keep them alive. Danny picked out the plants and is in charge of taking care of them. I am in charge of the garden bling. I am so excited about my solar lights. I think they will make our balcony really fun! I was also really excited to re-discover these cute planter signs I bought awhile ago for a craft project that I never used. I can't wait to get some chairs and a table and to eat fresh veggies!

Best.Picture.Ever

The Bunny Hop
Danny was really excited about his surprise easter egg hunt.
Not gonna lie. When Danny picked up the basket and started hopping around trying to find the easter eggs I thought ,"Wow this is interesting." Later I learned it is Maxfield Family tradition to hop while looking for easter eggs. Good to know. He has obviously had lots of practice. I mean...look at that form! The most perfect bunny hop I've ever seen!
Happy Easter!

Filoli

An English country estate built in 1915....in the silicon valley.

You might recognize it as the house from Dynasty

It was built by the heir to one of the most productive gold mines in history...William Bourn.

The gardens from The Wedding Planner

The Roth family (cruise line moguls) purchased it from the Bourn Family in 1930ish and later donated it to the National Trust for Historic Preservation in the 80's.

Everything you want (and don't want) to know about our life lately...

  • On Monday my work had layoffs. All my friends got cut. Work just got soooo boring.
  • On Tuesday Danny's work had layoffs. Luckily we made it through the first rounds.
  • I was reading "The Mother in Me" for book club but I had to stop because after the first couple short stories it was making me think all mormon mothers are lunatics and I don't believe that to be true in real life.
  • Its been in the mid 70's here and beautiful blue skies but I haven't been able to see any of the nice weather because I've been working like crazy including this weekend. :0( At least I have a job though right?
  • 85% of the food I eat is organic. And this isn't by choice. All the food at work is organic and most of the food at costco is organic. And I'm not gonna lie...it's not the tastiest food.
  • We went to this awesome place last night, Santana Row, which is like The District in Las Vegas but way bigger. But we only spend 45 mins there after driving 20 and spending another 15 looking for parking. It is a place to go with friends and spend lots of money.
  • Last week Sun Beams was a little interesting. Where are they getting these lessons? I'm Thankful for Plants? The lesson was seriously like 2 mins long. And even though I brought a bunch of new toys they were only entertained with those for another 5 mins. Any ideas? Normally this our routine...5-10 mins outside. 10 mins snack. 10 mins lesson (sometimes this is during snack). 10 mins coloring or other activity. Unfortunately the kiddies are not lasting for 10 min intervals anymore. We've resorted to teaching them to play duck duck goose which they love but isn't very church related (although they are good about playing it reverently).
  • The warm weather means our apartment is 85 degrees again. Yuck! Don't tell me "you don't need A/C in Palo Alto".
  • House Hunters International is my new fav show. Did any one catch this episode? I want a house there!
  • I have to admit... although I do love Chelsie and Ty on Dancing with the Stars and hope they win and I vote for them every week (both phone and internet)....2 of my internet votes go to Woz. What charisma! I want to be friends with him. Love him!
  • Danny and I need to get over our stigma that our apartment is too small to have people over. We have no friends because of it.
  • I need to work out. Any ideas for motivation? Any one have a good routine?
  • I need something new for my front door. I'm sick of the wreath we've had up for 2 years. Any ideas?
  • We have some really pretty trees outside our apartment.
  • I'm obsessed with this model home that Danny's parents found in Palo Alto. Don't worry...only $999,000. A steal! haha. But seriously, I want the decorator to do my apartment. I love it!
  • We baby sat my cousin's kids 2 Saturdays ago (Emma-5 1/2 and Bryce- 3?). They are the funniest kids. We had a great time with them. We were driving in the car and this was our conversation....
    • Liz- "Emma do you know his name?" (pointing to Danny)
    • Emma- "Yes. That's Danny!" (Emma giggles) "Do you want to know something."
    • Liz -"Yes"
    • Emma- "Whenever I think of the name Danny I think of a Dinosaur." (everyone laughs)
    • Liz -"Should we call Danny, Danny the Dinosaur?"
    • Emma laughing "Lets call him Danny the Boo Boo Dinosaur."
    • Liz laughing "What kind of Dinosaur is he?"
    • Bryce- "A T-Rex"
    • Emma - "No a Terradactyl"
    • Bryce - "But without wings"
    • Emma - "He's a mouse."
And that is how Danny became Danny the Boo Boo Dinosaur (the mouse).

Tahoe

This weekend we went with some friends to Tahoe. The snow was great and it wasn't crowded. Even though it was super windy it was still sunny which made for a great day. We stayed at Heavenly but decided to go to Kirkwood to board. I was surprised/terrified when we got there and saw only black diamond runs. The beginning of the day was a little scary because my legs were so tired but by the end of the day I could keep up with everyone and even went on the expert only runs. I was proud I didn't get hurt.

The boys were extra nice and on the drive home stopped at my favorite restaurant to have lunch (Mimi's) and even stopped at the outlets so I could do some quick shopping. Thanks guys it was fun!
