Peru - Day 4 {The Amazon}

We chose to have a later walk up call and loved the extra time to sleep in. We had breakfast at 7:30am and met our guide at the lagoon canoe docks at the resort by 8am. We cruised around the lagoon for about 2 hours looking for birds, monkeys, and fishing for piranhas. We didn't catch any but we definitely feed some. They were clever little buggers. They ate the bate right off our hooks!

Some Parrots

There is a falcon sitting up at the very top of the tree with no leaves. It's hunting a small monkey in the leafy tree.

Trying to find a good spot for piranha fishing

Found one

The piranhas were clever and creepy

We headed back to the lodge for a rest (and shower) and lunch. After lunch we headed to Monkey Island. We didn't see any monkeys. :(

We didn't see any monkeys :(

After our trip to Monkey Island sans monkeys, we came back and canoed on the lagoon again. This time we headed for a steamboat shipwreck. It was actually kind of cool.

We got a couple of hours to rest before we met our guide, Lizbeth for another night walk through the jungle. This time we were more serious about it and kept quiet. And it paid off. We saw some night monkeys!!

Can you see the monkey?

Looking for animals

Our last dinner at the lodge. So delicious.

The amazon turned out to be so much fun. We weren't looking forward to leaving the next day!
