Lisa is Married!

One of my BFF's got married this weekend and it was so fun to see all the girls I grew up with since nursery. Some I hadn't seen for 10 years! Congrats Lisa! The wedding was beautiful and so was the bride!

The old gang back together again (minus one). Sara, Lisa, Liz, and Dallas.

The week after Ryan's wedding my mom had DOUBLE knee replacement surgery so I went home for 4 short days (some times I hate working) to watch Becca and visit my mom in the hospital. The day of my mom's surgery Becca was super sad and upset so the next morning I decided to take her to the wanna-be Build-a-Bear to make an animal for herself and one to give our mom. She cheered up right away.

Becca beyond excited that Build-a-Bear had Build-a-Doll!

Becca also decided that we needed to make a blanket to accompany our bear we just made to help Mom rest and get better. She picked out a beautiful Disney Princess fleece blanket kit and we made it later that day. Mom loved her new blanket and new friend Zoe (the bear - I should have taken a picture).

The next day my mom had arranged for a day of beauty for Becca and me. We got our hair cut and colored (me) and a few chosen dolls even got a trim and blow-dry. Becca was super good for Lisa (our hair stylist) and sat perfectly still while she got her hair cut.

Saturday (Valentine's Day...poor Danny) my Dad took us out to breakfast and then Becca and I went to Playhouse Disney!!! We saw Pooh, Tiger, Darby, the Little Einstein's, Manny (the handman?), and Mickey and Minnie. Becca loved the show and she even got a June doll and cotton candy (even though she hated it she still ate it because all the other kids were...so funny).

Becca and Liz at Playhouse Disney with our new haircuts!

Sunday we had our Valentine's Day party at the hospital and had fun opening presents, eating some snacks and chatting. Becca was excited to finally see our mom and was a good helper/supervisor making sure my mom got all the attention she needed (or didn't need).

All in all it was a fun trip (sorta. Not so much for mom). We did lots of fun activities and no matter what the circumstance it is always fun to see my family.

# of random people Becca knew while out and about:
  • Girl at Build-a-Bear - knew her from Target
  • Another check out girl at Target
  • Everyone at the hair salon
  • Two waitresses at IHOP

Ryan's Wedding and Disneyland

The weekend after Danny's b-day we went to LA for Ryan and Andrea's wedding. It was great to see some of the old gang. I was sad it was raining the whole weekend, but the wedding was still beautiful. We weren't going to go to Diseyland becuase it was raining but when Rob told us he had never been we decided we HAD to go. It was some crazy weather (pouring rain one minute then sunny and hot the next) so Disneyland was empty and it was a great day.

Ryan , Rob, and Danny
Danny, Rob, Rich (other Danny), and Christa

Rob finally made it to Disneyland

Highlights from the trip include:
  • Getting lost in Santa Clarita at 2 am for an hour despite having a GPS
  • Getting lost and Danny deciding he's not an ambi-turner ("I can't turn left")
  • Liz laughing so hard she couldn't breathe
  • Our ghetto hotel
  • Monte Cristo sandwich... mmmm
  • Mimi's - I miss you
  • Liz riding Space Mountain for the first and last time

Danny's B-day!!!

We celebrated Danny's b-day Feb 4th. I really wanted to get some friends together to go out to dinner but Danny insisted that he just wanted to eat at home with just the two of us. I spent weeks trying to think of something and finally the day of my co-worker helped me plan something. Despite the last minute preparation it turned out great and Danny loved it.

Since we took a trip to Spain this last summer (which was totally awesome) and Danny loves everything Spain I decided to order take out from a really great new tapas bar in Palo Alto, Joya. I had been there for work and it is super delicious!

Our festive tapas bar- kobe beef mini burgers, braised short rib tacos, seared Spanish sausages, and a Spanish salad. Yummy!!!!

Since Danny hates cake we had churros con chocolate! MMMMmmm good.

It was a good b-day. I think we should do the same for mine!

The finer things in life

After watching 3 hours of HGTV and feeling sorry for myself that I don't have a professionally decorated and clean HOUSE, I decided to drown my sorrows with the always reliable Diet Coke. As I reached to grab the usual glass from my door less kitchen cabinet I remembered some advice a very wise and classy lady once shared with me.

"Liz, you need to enjoy the finer things in life like drinking Diet Coke in a wine glass."

Well I don't have any wine glasses but I do have some glass goblets so cheers to the finer things in life!

How many pics did I take over christmas? That would be zero.

So Danny and I had a really fun Christmas and New Year's. For Christmas we went to Kennewick to see my family. Washington had a HUGE snow storm but we lucked out and were able to fly in and out of Spokane with little delay. It was really fun having a white Christmas. We ate lots of good food, went shopping and ice skating, and HUNG OUT WITH FRIENDS. It was so fun to see my good friends from high school and college. Thanks to everyone for taking the time to hang out!

We flew back to Palo Alto to work two days and then we left again to spend 5 days in Utah for New Years. Utah is always a good time and we enjoy spending time with the family. My personal fav was going to Main Street Park City and seeing Jon and Kara from Jon & Kate Plus Eight. I just love Park City it is so fun. I highly recommend it to anyone that hasn't had the chance to visit. We also were able to go SKIING at Sundance with some of Danny's siblings and it was so FUN. I'm so glad we went even if it was only for 2 hours. I also was able to get together with my former lunch crew. It was such a blast getting together with the girls. I could've chatted for days! I miss you girls so much! Danny and I went on a Date Night with our friends to Happy Sumo (miss it so much!) and loved chatting at their new house.

All in all it was a great Christmas and New Years. This year I feel especially grateful for our FRIENDS! I am so glad we were able to hang out with a few of our friends . We miss you all! Please come visit!!

Now comes the worst part of the year. I don't have a day off work until Memorial Day! Blah!
